I remember growing up we used to go skiing almost every Christmas. We had a large family, and instead of presents, we used to go skiing resorts along the east coast. I used to say the one place in my life I wanted to go to was the Swiss Alps. I wanted to ski the Swiss Alps and look and see the beauty of creation in all the mountains and lakes in Switzerland. Let’s just be honest, I never thought I would “actually” be able to go to Switzerland someday. The dream kinda hid in the back of my mind and I stashed it away.
When I saw on a travel group that a girl just booked her flights in Zurich for an elopement and asked for recommendations for a photographer my heart just jumped. I messaged her right away and we actually scheduled a facetime and at this time I remember my car actually had just been hit by a rock and Garrett works for Safe Glass Auto Repair and I laughed because the Safe Glass guy had been out twice to fix my windshield. They live in Savannah, Georgia and are some of the most chill people ever. I was thrilled listening to their vision of why they wanted to elope. My husband and I looking back would have eloped, and I could relate SO much to what she was saying. Photos were SUPER important to her and finding someone who could also officiate and allow this elopement be as intimate as possible.
We talked quite a few times before flying out to Europe and I couldn’t wait to FINALLY meet Jackie! They flew in and got to Lucerne Sunday and then Monday Jackie came to prep for the big morning! I created a bouquet for her and helped put a braid in, and later even finished the entire “Dutch” braid while we were in the city!
We had the BEST time, even though it included hiking up a massive vineyard to get to the ceremony spot we all have to admit it was worth it. It was a perfect day where at the top of the mountain only a few people walked by to admire these two pronouncing their vows thousands of feet in the air overlooking all of Lucerne. It couldn’t have been more intimate and perfect. We can’t even begin to explain how honored we were to be a part of their perfect elopement. Tyler was the officiant and we truly doubled as the entire package. We LOVED getting to know Jackie and Garrett and I will forever be thankful for the moment I was able to see the Swiss Alps in person. With tears of joy for these two, I wanted to thank them one more time for the wonderful honor it was to be a part of their amazing day.
Switzerland, you were TOO good to us. Hopefully one day, we can come back and show Elijah and Carter how beautiful this country is.
