Almost a year and a half ago, I was probably having one of the hardest mondays ever. I felt like the odds were against me, and everything that day was going wrong. My sweet husband told me to just go sit and edit the wedding I had just shot, and he took my son downstairs. As I sat there with a top bun, no makeup and my pjs I received a phone call, “Hi Ashlea! This is Alanna, we were just wondering when you were going to be here at Little Fat Gretchens” My heart SANK. I thought, of course today I would have forgotten about a wedding consultation I had. I told her, oh! I’ll just be right there, so sorry to keep you waiting. It was at that moment 3:40ish and we were supposed to meet at 330. I sprinted and threw a dress on, shoes, yelled at Tyler that I’ll be back soon and dashed out the door. As I walked in almost 20-25 minutes late (SO EMBARRASED by the way trying not to bawl my eyes out) I told them that I was SO sorry, and to be honest I had forgotten. It was a hard thing to tell the truth, but it is always worth it. So as we began to talk we all just hit it off. Alanna is one of the most amazing, selfless, classy, most precious ladies. That day they decided to book me as their photographer, and let me tell you, after the fact that I was LATE I am still so honored as I think back to this horrible day haha!
So fast forward to October 6, 2018. I arrived at Aaron’s mothers house where the sweet girls were getting ready. Sarah and I were about to start details, and lets be honest these details were STUNNING. We were downstairs and in the room we were in, it was a full disney room! Yes, I freaked because I LOVE disney! That was a side note, but we started shooting these beautiful details and we just kept saying that this day would just be perfect. THAT “perfect” I said, was an understatement.
The girls started to get ready, and receive their pearl strand neclaces from sweet Alanna and their cute tote bags. We started to huddle into the room where Alanna was going to be putting her dress on. Her mother came out to help, and as they put the dress on there were just happy tears coming from all over. After this Alanna turned to me as I helped her put her shoes on, so her mom didn’t have to bend over she said, “Ashlea, you were the only photographer we looked at and we are so thankful we booked you” OKAY cue tears, yes I did shed some tears and hugged her. These affirmations on a wedding day literally just always bring me to tears of thankfulness.
We headed outside for some bride and bridesmaid photos, and then the father first look. I led Larry down the hill to see his daughter and they both were soaking this time up. He had such a proud look in his eye for his daughter.
We went next to the Bear Lake Resort. When we got there the guys were already outside ready for action. We started photographing them by the lake! I loved the charcoal grey suits with the fall weather! This color really complemented the burgundy dresses as well!
The ceremony started at 3, and there were the sweetest flower princesses, and a ring bearer. These babies were SO precious. This ceremony was intimate, and so precious. Aaron’s face when Alanna came down the isle was almost too much for people to handle. He. cried. good. This was one of my most favorite parts of this day. They shared vows and then watered their “wedding tree” and vowed to always help and water their love as well, so that it would keep growing forever. They kissed and then after the five year wait, they are FINALLY MARRIED!
That evening they soaked up every bit, our bride and groom portrait time was a DREAM. I mean fallscape in the background, long veils, AND the lake? Give that to me all day!
This was such a beautiful day, and I was so honored to be a part. Alanna and Aaron, I can’t begin to thank you for the trust you’ve put in me to capture your day. I loved every second of being apart of it! Love you two!!
