Austin and Meredith first met on November 21, 2021; Meredith was a senior at Oklahoma City University and Austin was in the middle of his second year at OU Medical. After hearing about each other through multiple friends and family members, Austin came to see Meredith as she was starring in OCU’s production of the Three Penny Opera. They met briefly after the show but went their separate ways for the Christmas season. In late January of the next year, Meredith reached out, and Austin swiftly asked to take her on a date. They continued dating through that spring until Meredith's graduation where she decided to follow her dreams of moving to New York City. Austin encouraged her to make her dream a reality, and she moved later that summer. While they were no longer together, the two stayed in contact in the months following. Since the distance only made the heart grow fonder, Austin planned a trip to visit Meredith over New Year’s. During that trip, they decided to try long distance and work towards being with each other. In the following months the two found ways of seeing each other regularly while building their relationship and falling in love.

Austin proposed to Meredith on September 5th on the dirt behind home plate during Braves batting practice. Her parents were able to be there, and Andrew even helped sneak the ring in. Of course, Meredith said yes (don’t ask about the Braves performance,) and she swears she almost recorded a video of her saying “I think I’m getting proposed to today.” She claims Austin was acting fishy since he had too many strong opinions on her outfit. Austin thinks this “sounds convenient.”
